In the world's largest, India pulled 273 million people out of poverty

The United Nations has lauded India in its report according to which, India managed to pull nearly 273 million people out of multidimensional poverty between 2005-2006 and 2015-2016. This number is the highest in the world. According to the data released by the United Nations Development Programme and the Oxford Poverty and Human Development Initiative, 5 out of 75 countries were able to reduce their multidimensional poverty.
