Government okays 100% FDI by NRIs in Air India sale

The government on Wednesday finally approved 100 per cent Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) in Air India by foreign entities/NRIs under the automatic route. The FDI permissible limit was increased from 40 per cent to 100 per cent. Union minister Prakash Javadekar said that the cabinet has changed rules for the sale of Air India, allowing any NRI to acquire 100 per cent stake in the national carrier.
