Goldman Sachs to pay $3.9 billion to 1MDB after negotiations with Malaysia

U.S. investment bank Goldman Sachs on Friday reached an agreement with the Malaysian government over the multi-billion dollar 1MDB scandal. As per the agreement, the bank will pay $2.5 billion in cash to 1MDB bonds. The agreement also includes a guarantee by the bank to return at least $1.4 billion in assets linked to 1MDB. According to the charges, three Goldman Sachs units misled investors over bond sales totalling $6.5 billion.
