GDP grows at 4.7% in December quarter, government hopeful of further rise

According to data released by the National Statistical Office (NSO) on Friday, the Indian economy grew at 4.7% in the quarter ending December 2019. However, the coronavirus fear has struck the world economy hard and experts are sceptical about the performance in the current quarter. Economic affairs secretary Atanu Chakraborty said: "We have already bottomed out". The index of 8 core sector industries expanded by 2.2% in January.
