E-retailers cannot influence prices of goods on platform: Consumer Affairs Ministry

The Consumer Affairs Ministry issued a draft 'The Consumer Protection (e-Commerce) Rules, 2019 according to which, E-commerce companies cannot influence prices of products being sold on their platform and must adhere to fair trade practices. The ministry has sought comments on the proposed draft by December 2. Traders' body CAIT has welcomed the draft and it expects that the draft will make e-commerce companies transparent.
