Budget 2020: FM Sitharaman pays homage to Arun Jaitley, hails GST

Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman today started the Budget presentation with hailing GST as a historic initiative by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. She also hailed former finance minister Late Shri Arun Jaitley and paid homage to him for bringing in the GST. Sitharaman said that 60 lakh new taxpayers were added under Modi regime. She highlighted that more than 271 million people were pulled out of poverty between 2006 and 2016.
