In a major setback for e-retail firm Amazon the European Union has charged it with damaging retail competition while accusing the firm of using its size and market reach to exert its dominance over its competitors. The European Union alleged that Amazon used its dominance to get an unfair advantage over smaller merchants that sell on its online platform. The action was initiated by competition chief Margrethe Vestager.
