Volkswagen's failure to regulate the activity of their engine development department has earned them a fine of 1 billion euros in Germany. Some 10.7 million diesel Volkswagen vehicles with illegal emissions-controlling software were sold worldwide. The company has already paid $20 billion after cheating on U.S. emission tests. Volkswagen expects a positive effect on other proceedings against them by paying the fine.
