Toyota is set to introduce an emergency safety system using big data to ignore the accelerator if it determines the driver to step on the pedal unintentionally. The premium car maker will roll out the accelerator suppression function in new cars from this summer, starting in Japan. It’s a response to an alarmingly common cause of traffic accidents in Japan where elderly driver mistakes the accelerator for the brake.
