India overtakes China to become Hyundai’s largest overseas production base

India pips China as the largest overseas manufacturing operation for Hyundai Motor Company. In the first half of 2019, Hyundai's factory in Chennai produced more vehicles than the combined production of its units in China. Hyundai produced 3,51,837 vehicles in India as compared to the total production of 2,88,060 units in China during Jan-June 2019. India's output is now only behind Hyundai’s domestic output in South Korea.
