The government of India is all set to mandate the use of six airbags in all new cars from October 1 to increase passenger and road safety in the country. Currently, all cars in India are equipped with only two airbags, which were mandated by the govt not so long ago. However, automakers in India believe that mandating six airbags in passenger cars will raise vehicle prices and drive away potential buyers.
