Government likely to change stance on Tesla's proposal for import duty cut

While the Indian government's first response to the proposal of an import duty cut by Tesla was a straightforward no, government agencies including the road transport ministry and the NITI Aayog are reportedly supporting the proposal by Tesla to facilitate the electric vehicle maker's entry into the Indian market. The internal Trade Department has also supported the proposal and the finance ministry may soon take a decision.
