Sushmita Sen (actress) was born on November 19, 1975, in Telangana Hyderabad, India. She is an Indian actress, artist, and model who was declared Femina Miss India in 1994 and won Miss Universe in 1994 when she was just 18 years old. Sen is the competition's first Indian winner, and he has since mainly worked in Hindi films.

Sen received the Filmfare Award for Best Supporting Actress and artist for her work/task in the comedy film Biwi No.1 (1999). She was also nominated and selected for her roles in Sirf Tum (1999) and Filhaal.. (2002). Aankhen (2002), Main Hoon Na, and Maine Pyaar Kyun Kiya. are among her commercially successful films (2005)

Early Life

Sushmita Sen was born in Telangana Hyderabad, India, to a Bengali family. Shubeer Sen, a retired Indian Air Force Wing Commander (Father), and Subhra Sen, a jewelry designer and shop owner in Dubai (Mother), are her parents. She has two siblings: Neelam, her sister, and Rajeev, her brother.

She went and shifted to the Air Force Golden Jubilee Institute in New Delhi and St. Ann's High School in Secunderabad for her higher studies, but she did not continue her studies.

Career

Miss India Femina

Sen competed in the Femina Miss India pageant as a teenager in 1994. She was crowned 'Femina Miss India Universe,' securing her the opportunity to participate in the Miss Universe 1994 pageant.

1994 Miss Universe

Sen finished third overall in the Miss Universe preliminary competition, behind Miss Colombia Carolina Gómez and Miss Venezuela. Minorka Mercado's formal name is Minorka Mercado. Sen went on to finish second, fifth, and seventh in the following rounds before being crowned Miss Universe 1994. She was the first Indian to win the championship.

Sen's initiative, I Am She – Miss Universe India, took over after the Times Group relinquished the rights to choose the Indian representative to Miss Universe. It lasted three years (from 2010 to 2012). The deal was returned to Femina.

Miss Universe 2016 judging

As part of the 65th Miss Universe celebrations, she returned to Manila, Philippines, in January 2017, as one of the judges for the Miss Universe 2016 beauty pageant, 23 years after winning the pageant. On January 30, 2017, the pageant was held at the Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay, Metro Manila, Philippines. Cynthia Bailey, Mickey Boardman, Francine LaFrak, Miss Universe 2011 Leila Lopes, and others acted as judges.

The 1990s 

Sushmita became an artist and model after her reign as Miss Universe. Dastak, her first film, was released in 1996, and she played the victim of a stalker played by Sharad Kapoor. Mukul Dev played the lead role. She then appeared in the Tamil action film Ratchagan in 1997. Two years later, her role as Rupali in David Dhawan's film Biwi No.1 won her the Filmfare Best Supporting Actress Award in 1999. Biwi No.1 was 1999's second highest-grossing film. In the same year, She was nominated in the same category for her performance in Sirf Tum the following year. In the year 2000, she starred in a dance song in the film Fiza.

In the 2000s

She earned critical acclaim and box office success for her performance in the film Aankhen. She co-starred with Arjun Rampal. Amitabh Bachchan, Akshay Kumar, Aditya Pancholi, and Paresh Rawal also appeared in the movie. Her biggest success to date has been the 2004 film Main Hoon Na, in which she played Shahrukh Khan's love interest. The film grossed Rs 330,000,000 and was the second best-selling film of the year. Sushmita later played a prosecutor opposite Ajay Devgan in Main Aisa Hi Hoon. She also appeared in Maine Pyaar Kyun Kiya?, a remake of Cactus Flower, in 2005. Sen starred alongside Salman Khan and Katrina Kaif in the lead role. She also had a lead role in Karma Aur Holi.

In 2010

In the film Dulha Mil Gaya, a medium success that year, Sushmita played Shimmer, a successful supermodel. She also appeared the same year in No Problem action-comedy. She was featured in the 2015 Nirbaak Bengali movie. It was the first Bengali film by Sushmita in her career.
