World’s first self-powered desalination plant will turn sea water into drinking water

We know how salty the sea water is and we also know at what speed water level is declining on the earth. Keeping everything in mind NIOT is setting up world’s first self-powered desalination plant using the technology of OTEC in Kavaratti Island in Lakshadweep. On Monday the Union Science and Technology Minister Harsh Vardhan laid project’s foundation. It will have capacity to produce 1L litre of fresh portable water.
