“The orbiter is healthy, intact, functioning normally and safely in the Lunar orbit,” the official told PTI. This news came after ISRO lost communication with Vikram, the lander during its powerful descent on the Moon. The mission of the 2,379-kg orbiter would last for one year. The orbiter is equipped with eight scientific payloads for mapping the lunar surface and study the exosphere (outer atmosphere) of the Moon.
