The Taliban have insisted "doors are open" if US President Donald Trump wants to resume peace talks in future. Chief negotiator Sher Mohammad Abbas Stanikzai said negotiations remain the only way for peace in Afghanistan. Stanikzai's words came a week after Trump said the talks are "dead" after a Taliban attack in Kabul. Earlier this month, both sides had appeared close to a deal to end the 18-year conflict.
