Social Media Firms must remove content that violates 48-hour campaign within 3 hours: EC

The EC & IAMAI agreed to the voluntary code of ethics for general elections 2019. The social media firms have agreed to remove content that violates the 48-hours silence period within 3 hours & will also comply with legal requests, EC's orders to take down violating content. Content in violation of Section 126 of the RP Act will be acted within 3 hours & others will be dealt 'expeditiously' based on the nature of the violation.
