The automobile industry had seen its worst ever decline in two decades in India, with a 19% dip in July, the worst since December 2000 when the sales had fallen by 21.8%. Maruti Suzuki, the country's largest carmaker, was crippled by labour unrest where passenger vehicles have now declined for nine months on the trot. It is learnt that the slowdown is caused on account of bad festive season last year.
