Robotic Surgery performed on 2-day old baby in Chandigarh; First ever in Asia

PGIMER in Chandigarh has claimed to have performed robotic surgery on a 2-day old baby weighing 2500 grams only, by their team of paediatric surgeons; which is the first time ever in Asia. The baby was diagnosed with a condition known as oesophageal atresia meaning absence of food pipes. The absence of food pipes makes it difficult to take feeds. The surgery is advanced one wherein esophageal reconstruction is done.
