A Harvard Univerity professor commissioned the early photos of slaves. The images known as daguerreotypes & taken in a South Carolina studio are crude & de-humanizing, used to promote racist beliefs. The photos were of an African man Renty & his daughter Delia, were stripped naked & clicked from various angles. Now, Tamara Lanier claims to be direct descendant, great-great-great granddaughter of Renty, sued Harvard over the photos.
