Badjhiri, Madhya Pradesh, the first digital village in the state, is back to cash transactions now. The district was adopted by Bank of Baroda after demonetisation on November 8, 2016, and stated that it was the state's first digital village. When asked what went against cashless payment, a shopkeeper said that "Who will pay 2% charge on the bill? Most buyers are villagers, who can't be forced to pay 2% extra."
