Began with an 8-km-long Red Line, Delhi Metro turned 16

On 25th December 2002, the then PM Atal Bihari Vajpayee along with the then Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit inaugurated the Delhi Metro. Its journey began with an 8-km-long Red Line which connected Shahdara and Tis Hazari and today it has turned 16. Since its inauguration, the network of Delhi Metro has been expanding continuously. This year, the construction of new metro lines covered a distance of 87 km.
