First woman IAS of Independent India passes away

On Monday, Anna Rajam Malhotra died at her residence. Died at the age of 91, she was the first woman IAS officer after India got its Independence. She has worked under Madras state’s CM C Rajagopalachari. She also contributed to the construction of JNPT. In 1989, she received Padma Bhushan award. She had worked under seven CMs of Tamil Nadu and has also worked with Rajiv Gandhi.
