India's first water metro to start in Kochi next year

Backed by German government-run KfW bank, Kochi will soon become the first Indian city to get a water metro. The Kochi water metro project, worth Rs. 819 crores, will connect 10 islands near Kochi city, spread across 76 km, benefiting around 1 lakh islanders. The government is likely to award work tenders for terminals by the Christmas week and the project is supposed to go love in December next year.
