Once private operators are roped in to run trains under the Indian Railways, the fares might be hiked just like in the case of airline. Passengers may have to pay for preferred seats, baggage and other services. The gross revenue will be shared between the government and the private operators. Proposals from private companies to run 151 modern passenger trains on 109 pairs of routes have been invited by the Indian Railways.
