China opens dual-use highway in Tibet linking Nepal border
A move that can be alarming for New Delhi, a new strategic highway that runs from Tibet to the Nepal border has been officially launched by China for public use and can also be for a military purpose. It is said to be 40.4-km long between Xigaze airport and Xigaze city centre and 25-meter-wide with four double lanes. The highway which is classified as 1st-tier highway will shorten the journey from an hour to 30 minutes.
