Whatsapp says it notified India about security issues in May, Govt denies claims

In a major development in the Whatsapp hack issue, Whatsapp said that it issued a notification to the Indian authorities making them aware of the flaw. In May we quickly resolved a security issue and notified relevant Indian authorities, Whatsapp said. The Indian Govt, however, denied all such claims and said the notification was “too technical a jargon” and did not reveal that 'privacy of Indian users had been compromised.'
