Archaeologists and geologists use ground-penetrating radar to image the hidden subsurface. But researchers used it to find buried animal tracks from the Ice Age. White Sands National Park in New Mexico has one of the largest collection of vertebrate animal tracks and these tracks are preserved on a dried lake bed called Alkali Flat. They are locally called 'ghost tracks' as they are so difficult to make out.
