Telecom department cancels BSNL 4G tender after excluding Chinese firms

The BSNL 4G tender aimed at upgrading the network, has been cancelled by the Department of Telecom after the government banned 59 Chinese apps. The government had directed BSNL to not use Chinese equipment for the upgrade. The cost of the upgradation is expected to be Rs 7,000- Rs 8,000 crore. As per the officials, the step has been taken to push procurement of domestic equipment and technology as a part of atmanirbhar Bharat.
