Social media firms to reveal identity of 400 million Indian users after government's request

According to the government's new rules for social media companies and messaging apps expected to be published later this month, Facebook, YouTube, Twitter and TikTok will have to reveal users' identities if Indian government agencies ask them to. The step is being taken by the government to curb the circulation of fake news, child porn, racist invective or terrorism-related content on the social media platforms.
