A set of saltwater lakes hidden beneath the glaciers of the south pole of Mars have been detected by scientists. According to the scientists, the lakes don't freeze despite being in the low-temperature zone of Mars. The reason behind this is the extremely high concentrations of salt in the lakes' water. Earlier, signs of a subglacial lake basin were detected on Mars' South pole by the Mars Express spacecraft.
