Some of the most advanced 4D models of the Earth's interior ever designed will be showcased in a new project led by Cardiff University in order to simulate the behaviour of the mantle. This solid rock layer, situated between the planet's core and crust, shifts slowly over time - likely at the speed that a fingernail grows. These sophisticated models will investigate its complex pattern of upwellings and downwellings.
