Scientists find 11 different species of bats in India that are potential carriers of deadly Nipah virus

A group of scientists have found evidence that 11 different species of bats in India that are potential carriers of the deadly Nipah virus, that killed 17 people in Kerala last year. The virus was found in Indian Flying Fox only. The study aims to identify bat species with the potential to host the virus amidst its outbreak. 31 of 113 bat species were sampled, tested; of which 11 were found potential to host the virus.
