Scientists create glowing plants using mushroom genes

Glowing house plants will be a reality soon. Scientists have now created plants with genetically encoded autoluminescence. They sliced a DNA from bioluminescent mushrooms and inserted it into a tobacco plant glowing the plants really bright. 4 genes from a bioluminescent mushroom, Neonothopanus nimbi, were inserted into the DNA of tobacco plants. It converted caffeic acid into a luciferin emitting energy as light.
