Pune-based NIVhas developed an ELISA test that can detect coronavirus antibodies. The Health Minister has said it is the first test to be developed in India. This test will play a vital role in checking the community spread of the virus. ELISA tests are already available in other countries but procuring them in huge quantity was a challenge. ELISA test looks for antibodies in the blood to ascertain if one has been infected or not.
