Peculiar new star discovered that pulses on only one side

The light from stars isn’t always steady, it pulsates. This is uniform across the whole surface, but now astronomers have discovered a new type of teardrop-sized star that only pulses on one side. Known as HD74423, this star is about 1.7 times the mass of Sun and is 1,500 light-years away from Earth. But it’s not alone out there – HD74423 has a red dwarf friend, and the pair orbits each other in less than 2 days.
