New Record: Tortoise Species 'Manouria impressa' found in Arunachal Jungle

A new tortoise species 'Manouria impressa' was discovered in the hilly jungles of Yazali in Arunachal Pradesh. The researchers said it is the first record from India to have the impressive orange-brown to dark brown patches on the carapace. With this finding, India has total count of 29 tortoise species. Manouria impressa is one of the only fourth species of forest-dwelling tortoise in Southeast Asia.
