Rod Sims, the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission Chairman has backed the new laws that will force Google and Facebook to pay for news. Sims called the laws fair and said they were critical for the survival of the media industry. “We thought they were comfortable with that ... so we were very surprised that they’re still complaining about that,” Sims said while referring to the criticisms from Google.
