A 58-year-old was able to regain his vision after being diagnosed with retinitis pigmentosa over 40 years ago. The therapy activates gene coding, which aids in the detection of amber light. The study was headed by Botond Roska, a professor at the University of Basel in Switzerland. The patient was able to see what was in front of him with 78% accuracy. The findings support optogenetic therapy as the answer to partially restore vision.
