New 5G chipset unveiled by MediaTek for mid-range smartphones

Amid the calls for developing indigenous 5G technology by several countries to counter China, Taiwanese fabless semiconductor company MediaTek has announced a new 5G chipset for mid-range smartphones. The new chip named Dimensity 800U "brings cutting-edge, next-gen technology to the Density SoC series, bringing advanced 5G, imaging and multimedia technologies," Yenchi Lee, Deputy General Manager of MediaTek said.
