India's first Super Fab Lab launched at KSUM was inaugurated by Kerala CM Pinarayi Vijayan, which will give a major push to the hardware industry in the country. This is the only one outside the US and is the brainchild of Dr. Neil Gershenfeld, who had set up the first Fab Lab in the US nearly 17 years ago. Gershenfeld asserted that the new facility has tools to make anything and also makes the tools that make things.
