IIT- KGP researchers found out 2.5 bn years old proof of life in India

A group of IIT- Kharagpur scientists have found out proof of life that is 2.5 billion years old, in India. The time is known to the scientists as the Great Oxidation Event when the Earth's crust was still unstable. The first sign of life was found in the microbial cells in the Deccan at a depth of 3 kilometres. The ministry of earth sciences has asked the IIT team to probe the beginning of life in India.
