How the naming happens in the space?

The International Astronomical Union is the official arbiter of planetary and satellite nomenclature since 1919. While naming Jupiter's moons the rule of nomenclature says that the name must come from a character in Green or Roman mythology who has some connection with Zeus or Jupiter. The experts decide on the theme first and then they begin the nomenclature. Plenty of Lord of the rings references can be found on Space.
