Enzyme capable of destroying plastic within days, created by scientists

In what could be termed as a groundbreaking creation, scientists at the University of Portsmouth have developed a cocktail of plastic-eating enzymes, which can reportedly destroy the plastic within days. Degradation of plastic usually takes hundreds of years. Professor John McGeehan from the University of Portsmouth said they are currently getting the building blocks from fossil resources such as oil and gas.
