Apple to pay $503 million to Nevada-based VirnetX to settle patent case

A Texas-based jury has told Apple to pay $503 million to Nevada-based VirnetX to settle a patent case. The case involves infringement of virtual private network technology patented by software security firm VirnetX. "This case has been going on for over a decade, with patents that are unrelated to the core operations of our products and have been found to be invalid by the patent office," said Apple.
