Former Australia coach Justin Langer has revealed that Steve Waugh advised India batter Ajinkya Rahane ahead of the 2020–21 Border-Gavaskar Trophy. While commentating on the Day 3 of the ICC World Test Championship final, Langer recalled that Waugh called him to inform that he had been mentoring Rahane. Rahane made a stunning comeback to the Indian Test team after being benched for the home series against Sri Lanka in March 2022.
