Disney in talks with Reliance to sell Hotstar after missing out on IPL media rights: Report

The Walt Disney Company, an American multinational mass media and entertainment conglomerate, reportedly held talks with Reliance Industries Ltd. to sell their OTT (over-the-top) platform Hotstar. The discussions started after Disney failed to acquire the media rights for the 2023 IPL and India cricket matches. Bloomberg reports that the company has held early discussions with its primary rival Reliance, which has thwarted them by winning the rights for both the IPL and India cricket matches.
