After losing the first Test against England at Lord's New Zealand received a big blow ahead of the second Test as Kiwi captain Kane Williamson tested positive for Covid-19 on Friday. He has been ruled out of the Trent Bridge Test. New Zealand head coach Gary Stead gave an update on the charismatic captain of the World Test championship side on the eve of the match, saying Hamish Rutherford will replace him in the squad.
