Uddhav Thackeray resigns as Maharashtra Chief Minister ahead of floor test

Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray has on Wednesday resigned after the Supreme Court refused to stay the floor test ordered in the state assembly tomorrow by Governor Bhagat Singh Koshyari. Thackeray said he was also quitting as a member of the Maharashtra Legislative Council. Addressing the state, Thackeray thanked the allies Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) and Congress for supporting him.
