Uber apologizes for 2016 Brazilian data breach
In light of a major data breach in 2016, where the personal data of its users was leaked, Uber has apologized to its 156000 Brazilian users for it. They sent an email to their users which stated that their names, emails, and phone numbers were acquired by hackers. It is stated that Uber paid the hackers $100000 to destroy the stolen data. The users were only informed after Uber and the Brazilian AG signed an agreement.
